HEROD SAYS JESUS IS JOHN THE BAPTIST

1At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus 2and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! This is why miraculous powers are at work in him.” Matthew 14:1, 2

In volume I of the Buddhist Essene Gospel of Jesus on page 37 we read:

John’s Gospel tells nothing about Herod’s death or disappearance plot as told by the Synoptic gospels as to John.
.
John was not shut up in prison. The Syriac English Glossary states kHBISA
means hermit, coming from kHBaS to shut up, and kHBUSTA confinement,
restraint or imprisonment.

Also, he was not beheaded, PSQT also meaning stop,
cease, decided as well as cut off. Actually in Mandaic PSQ means to find relief.

So in Mark’s elaborate allegory, Jesus was explained as the resurrected John,
who was thus working great miracles. He was not only declared as the greatest
Prophet, but practicing restraint himself as a hermit, rather than imprisoned and
beheaded.

More, he was protected by Herod in admiration for being “a righteous
and holy man, and he guarded him, and he heard him gladly” and was given
relief rather than beheaded by Herod. This tetrarch, Herod, was the foster
brother of Manahen, the Essene, that Josephus tells about, and thus was a fellow
Essene, and sought to be John’s protector. (Mk.6:16-20)

Simon Zealot and his
follower Judas saw only the negative meaning in the Aramaic words of the
whole story like Satan (Mt.16:23), and thus were actually the wardens of a
prisoner’s escort taking John to the High Priest and Pilate.

As Luke informs us,
it was Herod who assured Pilate in the maneuver protecting John and helping
John discipline Simon Peter in dying to his former sinful self. This is tactfully
described in the Lost Gospel of Peter dealing with the swoon and quick revival.

Page 82 a translation of the Peshitta in Aramaic:

Mark 6:14-20, Mark 11:27-32
AND HEROD THE KING HEARD ABOUT JESUS, FOR HIS NAME WAS

KNOWN TO HIM; AND HE SAID, JOHN THE BAPTIST HAS RISEN FROM

THE ABODE OF MORTALITY; THIS IS WHY MIRACLES ARE WORKED

BY HIM. OTHERS SAID, HE IS ELIAS. AND YET OTHERS, HE IS A

PROPHET, JUST LIKE ONE OF THE PROPHETS. YET WHEN HEROD

HEARD OF IT, HE AFFIRMED, JOHN, FOR WHOM I DECIDED AS THE

HEADMOST; IT IS HE WHO HAS RISEN TO IMMORTALITY.

FOR THIS SAME HEROD, SENT FOR JOHN AND MADE HIM SHUT UP,

AND CONFINED HIM TO HIS HERMITAGE BECAUSE OF HERODIAS,

WIFE OF HIS BROTHER PHILIP, WHOM HE HAD MARRIED. FOR JOHN

HAD SAID TO HEROD, IT IS NOT LAWFUL FOR YOU TO MARRY YOUR

BROTHER’S WIFE. BUT HERODIAS WAS BITTER TOWARDS HIM, AND

WANTED TO KILL HIM; BUT SHE COULD NOT. FOR HEROD VENERATED

JOHN, BECAUSE HE KNEW THAT HE WAS A RIGHTEOUS AND

HOLY MAN, AND HE PROTECTED HIM; AND HE LISTENED AND DID A

GREAT MANY THINGS OF WHICH HE SPOKE, AND WITH PLEASURE

HE HEARD HIM.

AND THEY CAME AGAIN TO JERUSALEM; AND WHILE HE WAS

WALKING IN THE TEMPLE, THE HIGH PRIESTS, AND THE SCRIBES,

AND THE ELDERS CAME TO HIM. AND THEY SAID TO HIM, BY WHAT

AUTHORITY DO YOU DO THESE THINGS? AND WHO GAVE YOU THIS

AUTHORITY TO DO THESE THINGS? JESUS SAID TO THEM, I WILL

ALSO ASK YOU A WORD TO TELL MEN AND THEN I WILL TELL YOU

BY WHAT AUTHORITY I DO THESE THINGS.

WAS THE BAPTISM OF JOHN FROM HEAVEN, OR FROM MEN? ANSWER

ME. BUT THEY REASONED AMONG THEMSELVES AND SAID,

IF WE SHOULD SAY TO HIM, FROM HEAVEN, HE WILL SAY TO US,

WHY THEN DO YOU NOT BELIEVE HIM? AND SHOULD WE SAY,

FROM MEN, THERE IS THE FEAR OF THE PEOPLE, FOR ALL OF THEM

REGARD JOHN AS A TRUE PROPHET.

In Mark 6:14-20, it is not to be marveled that Herodias detested John, but in turn, Herod, like most men, felt his manhood, and thus a warm feeling of pride because not only had he made a conquest among the fair sex where other
men feared to trod, but here was one place he too was like other men, not
pretending sainthood, altho he is awe-stricken by the godliness of John. Today, it is
a mistranslation, to say he feared John, since he really feared for John, and it
would be better if we say Herod revered or venerated John, and was awestricken
by his Divine Powers as Jesus speaking and performing wonders by
God’s will.

Now, “For this same Herod sent for John and made him shut up, and
confined him to his hermitage,”-thus is our translation,-because AHD means
apprehend, hold, check or restrain one’s speech and action, beside shut up,
imprison by arrest. Confine him to prison, is used to mean bind or tie, and “the
house of confinement” as expressed here, in the Aramaic significance is put in
solitary, or as the hermit or monk. In various expressions monastic institutions
are spoken of as prisons or places of confinement and restraint.

So John and Herod are in accord.
If Herod really put John in Machaerus prison as centuries later monks
tried to reconstruct into biblic tradition and history, the whole text is a great
contradiction,-as if for womanly whims the great king was forced to imprison
and cut off the head of his patron Saint or Savior. Instead, the text says Herod
protected him and accepted him as an angelic guide for his government. So the
story on the beheading was an allegory invented by Herod himself to veil or
conceal the fact that when he ordered the beheading and bringing the head on a
platter for his wife, it was from a leader on the Jordan, but of a Zealot mob of
400 named Theudas, as Luke refers to in Acts 5:36, which Josephus also confirms
as captured on the Jordan and beheaded. For reasons already described one
can see why Herod would not behead John, but the same words mean “John for
whom I decided as the Headmost (among the aforementioned prophets); it is he
whom has risen to immortality (from the plane of mortality or death).” The word
“cut off” or PSaQ means to stop, to cease and to decide also, as it is used in
John 9:22 and Acts 13:46 for decided, and as to John, he is the Headmost, as
Jesus likewise admits in the Synoptic Gospels. This should establish the truth
that John was the one in whom the Living God, Jesus, incarnated on the Jordan.
However, on the side of Herod, as a devotee of John, it reveals that he,
like the Historian Josephus, were leaders reared by the Essenes, and thus the
Gospels written by Essenes, correlated facts with Josephus in writings as a guide
and revelation of truth. According to Luke in Acts 13:1, Manahen was the
foster-brother of Herod, of which Josephus says they were reared by Essenes, so
Herod was well acquainted with the allegorical method and trained as a follower
and protector of the sect. As Luke puts it (2:21), “his name was called Jesus
because he was so named by an angel before he was conceived in the womb,”
which with Mary (the Lord, MaRIA) it was a spiritual conception, being a virgin
before and after giving birth. When John realized Enlightenment on the Jordan,
they began to revere or venerate him as truly the prophesied Living God or Word
dwelling among us, or “Emmanuel”. In various Gospels, Jesus is referred to in
humble, if not scathing terms, such as the fact that his brothers did not believe in
him, and tried to restrain him, so it was no wonder for credibility he was spoken
of as John in physical person, until every one knew John, but then he was born
again, just like monks today take on the new person, with true name and the
Divine Mission or Ministry.
