"BUILD PARADISE AND EAT THE FRUITS THEREOF" JOHNNY LOVEWISDOM

VIDEO OF JOHNNY LOVEWISDOM IN TUMIANUMA, ECUADOR 1995

Your editor was 39 at the time and Johnny was 76. It took about an hour to travel from Loja to Vilcabamba by bus, and then about another hour to reach Tumianuma. From Tumianuma one walks through orchards and across a log bridge to get to where Johnny lived, which takes another hour.

I lived in the Condorguana creek valley for about 4 years until Johnny and I both moved to Cuenca. We stayed in Cuenca for about a year and a half then moved north to Sangolqui near Quito. We lived there for a while then moved to Puellaro which is near the equator line but was too hot and dusty.

So we sought better air and a cooler climate in Cayambe but found it too cold although the air was pure and there was an abundance of capuli cherries around. Next Johnny lived in the Orquideas neighborhood on the outskirts of Quito. It was there he was guided to La Merced with its hot springs and mountain valley.
